Jenny Mastin is a clay sculptor currently working as a studio artist at the “Odyssey Center for the Ceramic Arts” in Asheville, North Carolina. Born and raised in the northeastern coastal region of the state she achieved her visual arts education with studio concentrations in Crafts Design, Sculpture and Painting. Mastin earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from East Carolina University's School of Art and Design and her Master’s degree in Art Education from Appalachian State University. She also holds National Board Certification in Early Adolescence / Young Adult Art Education. Prior to taking early retirement, from a successful twenty-seven year teaching career, she taught private lessons for small groups of elementary aged students, summer art programs through the Old Rock School Arts Foundation in Valdese, and art courses part time for several years at Western Piedmont Community College in Morganton.
Jenny Mastin has exhibited her work in North Carolina since 1989. She has participated in various solo and joint shows in the galleries of Appalachian State University, the Burke and Old Rock School Arts Councils of Burke County, the Gray Gallery of East Carolina's School of Art and Design, the Odyssey Center of Ceramic Arts of Asheville, and the Ashe Street Gallery in West Jefferson. She is included on the artistS registries of “Handmade in America” and the "North Carolina Arts Council", a member of the "RDA" (River District Artists) of Asheville and holds an associate artist membership with the "Artspace Gallery" in Raleigh, NC. She has participated in national exhibitions since 2007.
